THE LOCATION

Tangalle locally known as “Tangalla" is one of the towns in Hambantota district, southern province of Sri Lanka located at about 195 km south of Colombo and 35 km east of Matara. This city is well known for its gorgeous beaches and the stunning tropical setting. It can be said, with no doubt that Tangalle beach is voted as the best beaches at Sri Lanka not only by locals but also by foreign travelers. It is the paradise for the beach lovers. Tangalle has its own unique attractions, important landmarks with diverse things to do.  Thus, the city is popular for lovely, peaceful vacations among many foreign travelers.

CLIMATE

The weather is always good at Tangalle because the south of Sri Lanka is very warm and dry. It is mostly sunny. The temperature in day ranges from about 29.6 °C - 31.3 °C mostly during the year.

Tangalle beach one of the best beaches in the world for 2021 is stunning with its wide unspoiled coastline and the developed beach front hotels and villas. The beach is so natural, calm and away from the busy city life. It is heaven for calm, peaceful seekers. Hummanaya Blow Hole.




A natural wonder and the largest blowhole in Sri Lanka. It is amazing to experience how
the water shoots to the sky wit
h in between two giant rocks and splashes back into the sea with a sounding boooom.





National Parks



Udawalawa and Yala National Parks are the most popular wild reserves in Sri Lanka. Udawalawa is great to spot wild elephants where else Yala provides a diversity range of animals including spotting leopards. 

 Mulkirigala Temple

 

An ancient Buddhist temple which built on a high natural rock. The government has recognized this temple as an archaeological site with its excellent architecture, paintings and sculptures.


Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary


A coastal wetland area and one of the oldest bird sanctuaries in Sri Lanka. 
It is rich in bio-diversity which includes marine and birdlife with its coastal lagoons, mangrove swamps, thickets and open grassy areas. Also, it is home to reptiles and nationally threatened birds.


 

Mirissa Whale Watching 


One of the breathtaking activity to do when you arrive southern Sri Lanka is Whale and Dolphin watching at Mirissa. Mirissa whale watching is the best place to see the blue whales, the earth's biggest creatures. The season starts from November to April with 98% chance to spot whales. You will also see other whales such as sperm whales, fin whales, Bryde's whales, short finned whales and dolphins, sometimes turtles and flying fish too.


Ussangoda




Ussangoda the 21st  national park in Sri Lanka is a special archeological site with a geographical importance. The place is quite magnificent without vegetation and part of the land is red hard soil.
It is a turtle breeding ground. There are many folktales and myths about this land where some says that a meteorite had hit the land hence and the strange soil that only stands out in this particular area turned red.
It is suspected that soil is highly rich in minerals. Another Hindu myth is King Ravana has landed his peacock chariot in Ussangoda.

Kasagala Temple


The kasagala temple built during the Anuradhapura period and ruled by ancient kings holds ancient significance.
It is said that the monks used to dry their saffron colored robes on the natural rock slabs where the temple is located. Seeing this from afar people saw them as saffron colored rocks and started calling the place "Kasagala" meaning the  yellow rock.
The temple features unique artistic interpretations of ancient times, representing sculptures and paintings by southern artists of the Kandyan tradition.

Bata Atha Farm


This is an Agro technological park on a 50 arcs plot of land owned by Department of Agriculture establish to realize the green park concept and benefit farmers. The farm encourages agriculture with a variety of agricultural crops.
The world's first agricultural monument is located near the entrance to the Bata atha farm, which indicates the connection between the traditional farmer and agriculture with its hands clasped.
