panchakarma

Panchakarma is an ancient modern technique of cleansing and revitalizing the body, soul and mind. In Sanskrit "pancha" means "five" and "karma" means "action". As the name implies, five basic Ayurvedic techniques are applied step by step in Panchakarma. The main objective of Panchakarma is to maintain stability, restore the efficiency of internal organs and activate them.

The two main objectives of Ayurveda are to heal a sick person and to maintain the health of a healthy person.

This unique treatment method known as Shodhana Karma consists of three steps namely Purva Karma, Pradhana Karma and Pashtat Karma.

Purva Karma is done to prepare the patient for the main Karma before he or she is referred for it. Purva Karma has two forms namely Snigdha Karma and Sweda Karma.

After the preliminary karmas, the main karmas are done to the patient. There are five forms of pradhara karmas. Here these five main karmas are known as Panchakarma in Ayurveda.

  1.Vamana Karma

  2. Virechana Karma

  3. Nasya Karma

  4. Vasti Karma

  5. Blood absorption
