Nutrition and Immunity

The nutrition that we receive from our foods plays a major role in our immunity system. A good diet is needed for the function of the immunity system. Following are the key nutrients and the major requirements that are required for the immunity cells growth and functioning.

·         Vitamin A

 Provides protection from infections, keeps protected the stomach, skin and respiratory system. The carrots, bell pepper and other foods which are red and orange in colour etc... includes vitamin A.

·         Vitamin C

Forms antibodies, produces white blood cells. The fruits which contain citrus such as orange, tangerines, kiwifruit, tomatoes include Vitamin C.

·         Vitamin E

This is a fat-soluble vitamin, an antioxidant protecting cells from damage caused from free radicals. Vitamin E Includes in seeds, nuts, avocado.

·         Vitamin D

Can destroy pathogens by regulating antimicrobial proteins. Vitamin D is necessarily important for immunity to regulate immune responses. Fish such as salmon, tuna, egg yorks, mushrooms are foods rich in vitamin D.

·         Zinc

Zinc supports immune cells. it is a mineral which is not produced or stored in human body. Meat, beans, whole grain milk, shellfish like lobsters, crabs includes zinc. 

·         Iron

Iron is required for immune cell functioning as it is a part of enzymes. The beans, red meat is rich in iron.

·         Vitamin B-6

This is so needed to the lymphatic system and to formulate red blood cells. Chicken, tuna, salmon, banana includes vitamin B-6.

·         Water

Water helps produce lymph. Lymph carries white blood cells and other immune system cells throughout the body. Therefore, water is required for hydration and immunity system operations. There are many foods that contains water for examples cucumber, watermelon contains water largely. Consuming such foods is important to ensure your body cells gets the needed water.

Our body absorbs the required nutrients from the food that we eat. Therefore, concentration on your diet is so important. You should get varied of foods knowing their nutrients. Then it will keep your body healthy.
